Highland Park 12 Year Old Bot.1980s: A Vintage Expression of Island Whisky
Highland Park 12 Year Old Bot.1980s is a rare and vintage expression of the beloved Island whisky. Produced in the 1980s, it offers a unique glimpse into the past, capturing the essence of that era’s whisky-making traditions.
Scotch Whiskey: This stuff is creamy in the glass. This forms a very sticky layer on the glass and forms a true lip shape on it. Only a few tears fell and these tears did not move at all. The color is light yellow. The nose is medium. Its light but not too fluffy. Plum is enhanced by sweet cherry aromas of grape apricot and peach with hints of lavender and a hint of moss-burning smoke rather than lush charcoal.
The mouthfeel is a bit surprising because its not as heavy as it looks. Instead it is a light smooth liquid. The sweet biscuit seasoning here reminds me of the jam I bought in Portugal based on wild berries with spiced barley grains and honey. Any smoke in the aroma is also gone here. There are many conclusions.
The fragrance starts off fruity and sweet then ends with a hint of smokiness that turns woody and spicy. The 18 year old from Highland Park was surprisingly unfit which I think was a holding factor. Its sweet and fun to drink but doesnt last long enough to be fun to pour.
